Welcome to My Fundraising Portal!

Hello! as-Salamu 'Alaykum
Welcome to my fundraising page. Every year I get really excited as I try to raise funds to sponsor athletes like myself. However, things are different this year.
Ever since March, Special Olympics athletes like myself have been at home, since all competitions and training have been canceled indefinitely due to the coronavirus. We are patiently waiting to get back to training. Whenever that is (hopefully soon!), many athletes will need help to cover the cost of their participation. I am committed to raise enough funds to sponsor 10 athletes like me. I'm ready for the challenge, are you?
Dealing with the coronavirus has been difficult for the world, and especially difficult for athletes with special needs. Many of us need the social environment Special Olympics provides us, yet we've been cooped up at home. Many of us are struggling with physical and mental health in light of the coronavirus. That's why your support is more important than ever before. We pray for those who are affected by it that they be healed and that we can return to our regular daily and weekly activities.
Due to the coronavirus, Our Miami-Dade Race for Inclusion 5K is now VIRTUAL, and is taking place on Saturday, December 19th, 2020. I will run a 5K on my own and log my run with Special Olympics. I need your help to reach my goal of $3500 to sponsor 10 athletes for a year. Apart from asking you to donate, I also challenge you to run in your local neighborhood and let’s see if you can beat my time :)
Please click DONATE NOW to make a quick, secure online donation, for my participation in Race for Inclusion 5K! You can even post a note on my page to cheer me on! If you prefer to give by check, please mail your donation to the address below and be sure to add a note with my name and “Race for Inclusion 5K” so it gets credited to my page. Please remember to ask your employer if they will match your donation.

More About Me
Special Olympics is a great part of my life; every day I have something to do. I participate in basketball, track & field, golf, swimming, stand up paddling and flag football. If I work hard in each of these sports and I qualify, I get to attend the State Games and compete with other athletes from all over our state, with a chance to bring home the gold, silver or bronze medal for my county. Last year I participated in state basketball, track, golf and stand-up paddling and brought home a gold medal in track and field and medals in swimming and stand-up paddling.
Apart from the competitions, I’m a Special Olympics Athlete Leader. I’m learning leadership skills that will teach me to advocate for myself and others, be confident and speak in public about Special Olympics on topics that are important to us. I know how happy I am being a special Olympic athlete and I want that for others, so they can get off the sofa and come out meet new friends, participate in community events, and learn new things.
