Volunteer Opportunities
Why volunteer?
Special Olympics Florida uses sports as a platform to unite people with intellectual disabilities with the rest of the community. It promotes inclusion and a real social movement – not only through sports and competition, but also by providing health screenings, leadership opportunities and skill-building for all athletes at no cost to them.
By volunteering, you’d be a part a large and growing group and whose efforts will continue to impact the community for years to come. You’ll be a part of something that will better the lives of people with intellectual disabilities in an immediate way.
When to volunteer?
While there are no volunteer opportunities through Special Olympics Florida during the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, there are a wide variety of ways to get involved in the mission all throughout the year. Volunteers can assist at one of the hundreds of sports and fundraising events across the state, serving in roles such as scorekeepers, line judges, officials, lunch distribution or awards preparation. For those that are willing to devote some additional time, there are opportunities to coach one of our over 20 sports programs, compete alongside our athletes as Unified Partners, mentor an athlete leader or serve as a leader on a Sports Competition Committee. For those with medical training, additional volunteer opportunities are available within our Healthy Athletes programs.
