What is Polar Plunge?
Polar Plunge is an annual fundraising drive for those brrrr-ave enough to take the challenge! Participants ‒ or “plungers” ‒ raise funds to get wild and plunge into chilly water at four different locations across Florida.
It’s the coolest event in FL ‒ literally ‒ and it’s all for an amazing cause! All proceeds help Special Olympics Florida provide year-round training and services for 52,000+ unified partners and athletes with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Fundraise, create a costume, laugh, cheer, and PLUNGE with a community that shares your passion to help individuals with intellectual disabilities thrive and excel.
About our hosting venue, Shipwreck Island Waterpark at Adventure Landing:
On December 14th, Special Olympics Florida will be hosted at Adventure Landing’s Shipwreck Island Water Park. You may wonder a Polar Plunge in the middle of winter at a waterpark? That’s right, Shipwreck Island will open Typhoon Lagoon, a half million gallon wave pool for this special event’s participants and guests. But there’s more…Shipwreck Island turns into a Winter Wonderland that includes: a real ice-skating rink, 100-foot Alpine Racer, ice slide and reindeer games offering a variety of activities and treats. Information about WinterFEST can be found on their website.
